Poul Ridley, from Belgium, is a retired geography teacher. Originally from Scotland, he has for years had the hobby for collecting historic maps, but not for a personal collection. He often uses maps as his inspiration for his artwork.

His current works consists of giving a variety of maps a new lease of life by adding bright gradient colours and texture to his work. His designing using colours has earned him praise for ingenuity. In his spare time he enjoys Geocaching and mountainous walks.
