Cora Moon was born in the Scottish Highlands in the 1960’s. Here, she has raised four beautiful children, two of whom still live with her in her quirky cottage. As her children grew up and gained independence, Cora began to crave a new lease of life. She discovered a love for art, particularly drawing while attending an evening still life class. After working in a banking environment for many years, drawing gave her a fresh start and something new and exciting to focus on. As a lover of nature and in light of leaving her job in the bank, Cora now spends her time outside doing what she enjoys the most – being at one with nature and drawing things she loves. Her creativity and enthusiasm for art come from her time spent outdoors drawing. She chooses to draw in quiet and secluded spots in the countryside which is later transferred and incorporated into her art. She finds that the sights and sounds in nature trigger her imagination and play a huge part in her art. Cora would describe herself as a nature enthusiast! Additionally, she takes inspiration from her life experiences and mood. Her work consists of Scandinavian style prints and textile designs. Her collection reflects her love of nature and the seasons. This is portrayed using motifs such as trees, leaves and forest imagery. Cora uses seasonal colours and those which reflect nature. These are often greens, pale blues and autumnal reds and oranges. Some of the pieces in the collection feature geometric patterns and repetition, creating eye – catching designs.
